Everyone in my family is overweight, there is nothing I can do about it
WRONG!
While your genes may cause your metabolism to work more efficiently in termns of extracting energy from food and using it, this is not a verdict for obesity. People from overweight families tend to think "fat" but they do not have to be fat. Recognising the problem is the first step to its resolution.
I have been told I have a body type that puts on weight easily. I can't change that!

It is true that you can't totally change your body type - although your lifestyle can have some impact. Body typing is only an informational tool, which is used in combination with a lot of other tools to determine your metabolic and genetic outfit and to determine what the best plan is for you.
All weight problems are caused by overeating
WRONG!
There are numerous conditions and circumstances that can cause weight gain. Some stressful event in your life can cause your Cortisol levels to play up, causing weight gain. Your thryoid can be a problem, some types of hormone replacement therapy, just to name a few examples.
It is impossible to lose weight without exercise - but I have no time for exercise
WRONG!
You can lose weight in the absence of exercise, although exercise helps enormously, both for achieving weight loss and for keeping it off. The Dr Hayes Plan can teach you techniques to fit your exercise in creatively.
It is better to have 6 meals a day than to have all your food in just 1 or 2 meals

This much depends on your personal circumstances, preferences, habits and genetic outfit. In controlled scientific studies this holds true but as individuals we often do not operate in the same way. Advice from a good nutritionist is required who can assess your personal circumstances in this respect..
Having breakfast is essential to a good weight loss program
Conditionally true!!
Because of most people's hormonal situation, foods eaten at breakfast time, i.e. not long after wake up time, is burnt less efficiently than food eaten later in the day, i.e. less calories are extracetd from it. However, this does not apply across the board and individual variations of this advice may be required.
