Glucagon

Glucagon has the opposite effect to insulin: it raises the blood sugar level when it is needed. It achieves this by
1. Stimulation of glycogen breakdown in the liver
2. Stimulation of gluconeogenesis, the formation of sugar from amino acids

Glucagon also mildly stimulates fat oxidation. It is stimulated by low blood glucose levels and high amino acid levels.

What is Glucagon?

peptide of 29 amino acids
